Time changes everything, even you and I have changed

*NERDY MAMA!
Hey hey. My parents are Hoochie Mama and Nerdy Papa, hence my name is Nerdy Mama.
I wear a pair of thick-framed black glasses, which people complain are so nineteen-fifty. And I'm seen with a book wherever I go. I'm a science geek who wants to get into triple science class. My friends mock me for that, but of course the typical me don't give a damn.

Life's a Masquerade : The Impostor Phenomenon
Sunday, February 17, 2008 || 10:58 PM

Look at yourself into a mirror. Stare at it.Can you see a mask staring back and who is really behind it? For some, we have this ability to be poor judges of our own performance and often overate our abilities. This is also know as ' The Impostor Phenomenon '.
Sometimes, we have feelings of phoniness which appear to alter our goals unexpectedly, and often protects us against subconscious self-delusions.

" The motivation was to avoid doing poorly, looking weak"

Research has shown that many self-styled impostors are phoney phonies : They inherit self-deprecation as social strategy, consciously or not, they are secretly more confident than they let on. Furthermore, they are also able to lower others' expectations on them and thus get credit for being humble.

Another perspective to look at this impostorism is that, by acting as an impostor, it could help a person to lower it's expectation for a performance and concurrently taking off the pressure laid on him or her.

Lastly, it reflects a respect for the limits of one's abilities.

PAIN THAT SHOWS A SIGN.
|| 12:28 AM

I wanted to post something about life being a masquerade. But I was lazy, so I didn't. I'll do it tomorrow. Right now, I am just trying to keep my mind of the constriction on my chest, which I have been doing it for the whole day.
My intuition tells me that I should go see a doctor and get it checked out. However, my parents said that I am just over exhausted for the week due to my sickness on Monday and Tuesday.

Okay, below are some Chinese New Year pictures taken at my place : )))))))

X- COUNTRY! - TCT OWNED !! YAH !!
Wednesday, February 13, 2008 || 9:35 PM

T C T OWNED X-COUNTRY TODAY !!! We OWNED both males and females categories.

Feel so PROUD of my 'house' now.Haha.
Hopefully the T C T committee would choose a nice design for the 'house' T-Shit. Last year's one was like shit. I didn't even buy it.

It was held at West Coast Park, which was so inaccessible. It only had 1 bus, 176, to places around the west I guess.

It was the worst run I even had in my entire life. Not that I do not have the stamina and strength, just that my chest started to hurt after the half way point, which was after 2.4 km. I was progressing quite well until it became tight and hard to breathe. Then the condition deteriorated.
So I had to stop at least 3 times to catch my breath. The 3 stopping caused me to lose hope for top 100 placing. At the end, I finished at 184 position out of around 400 competitors. So disappointed.

After the race, my chest was still hurting. So, I started walking around the vicinity and it got better. Then I went to sit down and talked to my friends. When we were about to cheer for the house, I stood up and for a moment, I blacked out slightly. It was quite scary.

Maybe it was because I was sick the day before. It might have been a contributing factor to those scenarios.

I hope this will never happen to me again.

On the brighter side of things, Jonathan Chow, came in 10th position! oWOW. Congratulations man! What a SMASHING finish aye. Haha. Nice orange Smashing watch by the way.heh.

Also, tomorrow is Valentine's Day!!! ~Love Is In The Air~

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY !!!!! LOVE YA ALL!!

MY NEW SKIN : ))))))))))) !!!!!!!!!!

Sick?
Monday, February 11, 2008 || 10:14 PM

I am SICK today : ( Not going to school tomorrow.
Sickness I have includes slight fever, flu, throbbing headache and a little bit of sore throat. The sore throat was already there for around 4 weeks maybe? Maybe it was the sign for me to get sick.

X-Country is in 2 days time! Which is on Wednesday! However, I doubt I can run at my normal state. Damn foot hurts which I injured during orientation. I think my right foot's arch is collapsing! ARGH. All those trainings has gone to a waste. sigh..
Well, I will still try my best to finish within top 50.

Madam Lek Bee Hoon is really getting on my nerves. I'm facing an old teacher who speaks in a slow mono tone. She is insanely draggy. One simple physics question she could take up 15-20 minutes of the time to explain and 3/4 of the class does not understand. For your information, she is also my form teacher. It is torturous to be in any of her class. She is worse than Nachi (My sec school teacher) I promise you. Can I or rather WE have a different form teacher after JAE?

"Men's Health" Magazine - 100% Useful !
Sunday, February 10, 2008 || 8:26 PM

Today, I got up from my bed this morning, I walked to my table wanting to collect my watch, phone and earphones when I saw an issue of "Men's Health" on my table. Honestly, it was the well-built man which I saw on the cover that stole my attention. For your information, I am not gay, totally straight. Anyway, my reaction was - wow - I want that body too. So I started flipping through the pages. Soon after, I found myself being engross over it. I even brought it out along with me to breakfast. There were articles that teaches people how to get rid of calories, how to train your muscles and also talks about health rules.

The first article I read was "The 10 Health Rules You Can Break Today".

1) Never Binge Drink - It means Drinking Alcohol is BAD. Drink more than 35 units a week regularly and you'll be in deep trouble.

2) Get Eight Hours Of Sleep - Research has shown that those who got their 8 hours of sleep had increased mortality rates when compared to those who only sleep 7, 6 and 5 hours.

3) Keep Red Meat Off Your Menu -Keep meat intake to under 140g a day. Studies has shown that fibre counteracts increases risk of bowel cancer. So, protect yourself with fibre-rich vegetables, pulses and wholegrain.

4) Eat Oily Fish 3 Times A Week - Presently, most fishes contain mercury. Large amount of it will damage your nervous system, sperm count and memory.

5) Exercise 3 Times A Week - Fitter.Happier.More Productive. Did you know that three 30 minutes brisk walking sessions a week can reduce blood pressure and trim inches off your waistline?? Cool right! Imagine if you run 3 times a week ! (Like me) : )

6) Cut Down On Caffeine - Too much of it cause withdrawal symptoms such as throbbing headaches, depression, muscle pain and vomiting.

7) Wash You Hair Every Morning ? - It just makes you feels good. Bagus! But no, washing it everyday strips off the hair of all natural oils which you may experience irritations and flakiness.

8) Brush Your Teeth After Every Meal ? - Not necessary. To prevent buildup of plaque, twice a day would be just fine.

9) Don't Eat Before You Go To Bed - It makes you FAT!! haha. Make sure your last meal of the day is high in fibre and protein.

10) Wear SPF When You Go Outside ? - Try not to. Reason is because it drastically increases the level of aluminum in your skin and could cause other skin damages. The best is to cover up with the right clothes is more effective than any sun-block.

So guys, be health conscience. Watch what you eat and exercise regularly!

Remember, "Fitter.Happier.More Productive."

A short note to whoever reads this : Help me look for a new cool layout. I'm bored of this one. Black and White, too simplistic. I want something which is more vibrant, full with bright colors and unique.

Thanks,
Signing off- HanLin :)
